It can be very daunting to find your way through the maze of outdoor equipment now on offer. This offers some ideas and advice on basics but does not pretend to be definitive.
- Many people claim to be “experts” and not all are, so it’s generally a good idea to visit a reputable dealer (who sells different makes), tell them where you are going and what you want the kit for
- Most leading manufacturers have outlets selling samples and end of range items that tend to be much cheaper
- Don’t take recommendations from specialist magazines as gospel: it has been know for inducements to be offered by manufacturers…….
